Education is a high priority for the members of the Catherine Thybo Chapter NSDAR. This is not unusual considering that several of our members are current or retired teachers.

We are pleased that, in only four years, we have had two students from our area receive scholarships. One student was the recipient of the South Dakota Society DAR (SDSDAR) Military Descendant Scholoarship and the other was a recipient of the NSDAR Good Citizens Scholarship.

We are always looking for ways to get involved in our community. We promote Constitution Week in our area schools, local libraries, and businesses. We volunteer our time in and out of the classroom, and donate books to our local schools.

In addition to improving minds, we are also interested in improving children's physical selves. For the last three to four years, we have collected hygiene products for the students at the Loneman School. We are also collecting empty prescription bottles to benefit Doctors Without Borders. This program may have a worldwide effect on children and their abilities to learn and improve their lives.
